Filtering internal website users from Google Analytics reporting

GA4 reports getting mucked up by your colleagues testing stuff? In the Google Analytics property admin area, there is a Data Filters area where you can see a default "Internal traffic" filter in testing mode:



In order to filter out your internal users, you can approach as a top-down system where all colleagues are asked to repeat a specific behavior that will allow proper filtering. Chrome extension use or setting a browser home page to a specific URL that can be keyed off of are great ideas. Or, you can approach from the bottom up. Go find what qualities are common among internal traffic attributes, and set up event modifications to flag that traffic by setting the traffic_type to internal as noted in the image above.
